Still Life, Simplicity & Springtime Workshop

 In this still life workshop we will focus on the beauty of simplicity and color harmony.   Students will paint from their own set ups which may include springtime buds, leaves, and flowers, composed with fabric, pottery or porcelain.  We will approach our paintings alla prima in a painterly manner, shedding the linear approach and centering our attention on form.  Over the course of the weekend, we will examine elemental composition, value, color temperature and edges.  This workshop is ideal for students who are familiar with the basics of oil painting.

Scottsdale Best and Brightest 2012

Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver

October 28, 2011

I was very happy to be invited as an Artist in Residence to the cosmopolitan Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver for the weekend of October 28 and 29, 2011.  During that time, in the lobby of the hotel, I did a demonstration of a small still life painting.  Hotel staff and the Howe Street Gallery worked together and arranged to hang a show of my recent work which was displayed in the exquisite lobby of the hotel for the next two weeks.
